HAPPY NEW YEAR! – Saturday, 31 December 2011

Looking forward to bringing in the New Year celebrating with neighbours and good friends at our street party.  We live in the best street in the Moreton Bay Region, for sure!  😉  I hope that this year is kind to you all in health, family, friends, and business (and most certainly a better start to 2012 compared to this year’s events) .  A few parting quotes by the talented Dr. Seuss:

“Think left and think right, and think low and think high.  Oh!  The Thinks you can think up, if only you try!”

“You have brains in your head.  You have feet in your shoes.  You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.  You’re on your own.  And you know what you know.  You are the guy who’ll decide where to go!”

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind!”

“Today YOU are YOU, that is truer than true.  There is no-one alive who is YOUER than YOU!”

‘QUEST BUSINESS ACHIEVER AWARDS’ NIGHT! – Sunday, 30 October 2011

Last Friday night, my husband and I (toddler free!…thank-you to my lovely sister for babysitting!) attended the ‘Quest Business Achiever Awards’ night for businesses who were Finalists in the Caboolture region.  This event was held at the Narangba Community Centre, and we were lucky to be seated with some lovely people from other local businesses within the region.  Lots of chatting, laughs, some wine, tasty meals, and the entertainment, provided by one of Brisbane’s hottest party bands, ‘Hot Sauce’, was simply fabulous.  A great night out!  Thank-you ‘Quest Newspapers’.  Congratulations to all 2011 winners, and good luck in 2012!!!

‘QUEST BUSINESS ACHIEVER AWARDS’ – FINALIST! – Tuesday, 16 August 2011

It is with great excitement that I announce that the studio has progressed to FINALIST status in the ‘Quest Business Achiever Awards’!!!  Yippee!  This means that we have been ranked by YOU, as one of the top 6 businesses in the Caboolture shire, in the category of ‘Tuition, Training & Recreational Programs’.  Just a little bit excited (if you didn’t guess)!  Thank-you once again to all who voted!  I really appreciate how supportive you all are with both my business, and my family (with some of you having gone through some of our earlier family health issues over the years, with Michael, and then myself and Bailey with his early birth…wow, what a ride!).  Please keep me posted with any feedback that you have at any time, as I truly do take on board all that I receive.  Thanks once again, everyone!  You and your children make it all worthwhile!!!

QUEENSLANDERS UNITE! – Saturday, 22 January 2011

Simply the best!  Wow!  For such devastation that has occurred around the state during these holidays, the true, hard-working, ‘help ya mate’, tough, courageous, ‘true blue’ spirit has really shone through!  I am truly proud to call myself a Queenslander!!!  So much has been lost- lives (incl. pets), homes, schools, businesses, precious irreplaceable belongings, etc….however, it appears that a lot of greatness has also come of these tragedies through mateship, occurring in so many forms.  From those helping with the physical clean-up (the ‘Mud Army’); to those donating any amount of money that they can; to donating furniture, clothing, toys, food, etc.; to providing temporary accommodation even for entire families; to baking food for those now homeless, AND the ‘Mud Army’…the list is endless.  I always knew that Queenslanders were a great bunch…but I think you’ll agree with me when I say that no words can adequately describe just how great our state has now been proven to be.  I’m sure that you are all well and truly aware of the following link, and have donated all that you possibly can, but just in case, here’s the link with payment information for those wishing to donate to the ‘Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal’: http://www.qld.gov.au/community/disasters/floods/donate/ (accepting donations through to Dec. 31st 2011).  Students- see you from THIS Monday.  Much love, peace, comfort, and hugs to everyone.

BELATED ‘MERRY CHRISTMAS’ AND OVERWHELMING START TO 2011! – Thursday, 13 January 2011

Belated Christmas wishes to you all, and ‘hi’ for 2011.  Wow…what an overwhelming start to 2011!  Where to even begin?!  I am so so so deeply saddened to see and hear what has been happening in our community (as I know you are also).  It is simply unbelievable…yet sadly, a reality!  Our deepest thoughts and sympathies are with those who have family and friends directly affected by these awful floods, and hope that they get the relief that they need ASAP!  To those who have lost their lives…rest in peace beautiful angels…you will be sadly missed!  We ourselves had a scare earlier in the week, when we awoke to see our bin floating down our street.  The water continued to get higher quite quickly, and by around 11am (approx. 2.5 hours later) was right up to our front door…as well as lapping at the music room door!  THANKFULLY…as soon as it reached that level, it began to recede even quicker than it came!  We’ve had no water in sight since it disappeared 1-2 hours after it reached it’s highest point (touch wood).  We were the lucky ones!  Unfortunately, like so many others, neighbours at the end of our street, and surrounding streets weren’t as fortunate as us.  A big thank-you once again to those of you who heard about our situation and continued to check in on us that day, as well as offering assistance in moving things up,  temporary accommodation, and clean-up help if we needed it!!!  You are all too wonderful!  We’re still on alert with the next lot of high and king tides due, with the car packed ready to go if the water rises again, but if we don’t get any of that severe rain again in conjunction with those tides, we should be fine (hopefully)!!!  I hope all of you manage to stay safe and dry during these surreal and tough times!  Thinking of you all!  See you as per planned at this stage, with lessons resuming from Monday 24th January.  Please stay safe, everyone!

BAILEY TURNS 1! – Sunday, 20 June 2010

Wow!  It’s hard to believe that a year has passed (already) since we first welcomed our son, Bailey, into the world (albeit rather sudden, scary and a tad early!).  He turned 1 last Monday (June 14th), and enjoyed his birthday party celebrations the day before (with a cheeky monkey theme…very fitting for Bailey…as he certainly is one very cheeky little monkey!).  It’s getting hard to believe that he was a premmie!  His 12 month checkup at the GP last week also confirmed that all of his measurements (weight, length, head circumferance) are within normal ranges.  Hooray!  Thanks again everyone for your supprt this past year, and your continued support!  Our family has really appreciated it (me especially!!!).

WELCOME, BAILEY STEVEN KNIBB! – Friday, 26 June 2009

Well…after a very sudden, scary, close call for both mum and bub…several surgeries later, and a week and a half stay in hospital, our first child, a son, was born Sunday 14th June 3:41pm at 33 weeks, weighing 1.9kg, and 45cm in length.  He will be in the Special Care Nursery for the next few weeks, but is doing extremely well!  Thank-you all for your congrats and support these past few weeks!  Both Michael and I have really appreciated it!  I look forward to resuming music lessons with you all from Term 4, and can’t wait to share my love of music with our son, Bailey (who’s already been enjoying the music lessons, prior to his sudden arrival, from within my tummy).  Believe in music!!!

ANNOUNCING, MRS LEIA KNIBB! – Monday, 26 January 2009

Well…for my continuing students and parents…as of last Sunday 18th January, I am no longer Miss Leia Tunney.  After a beautiful wedding ceremony and lunch reception, held at ‘Tranquil Park Moutain Resort’ (Maleny), I became Mrs Leia Knibb (pronounced ‘Nib’).  Hooray!  Thank-you to everyone who passed on their congrats and well wishes!!!  They have been very much appreciated by both Michael and I! I look forward to catching up with you all at your first lesson.  Can’t wait to hear how everyone’s improved their skills over the break!
